John Jones of the host club glencruiiten became the first winner of the Argyll and Bute Seniors Open.. His Fine net 58 was enough for a 5 shot victory over Andrew McKenzie. The county would likr to thank the players who turned out in showery conditions and thank Glencruitten golf club for hosting the event.

Argyll & Bute's six man area team suffered a heavy defeat at the
hands of Renfrewshire last Sunday at Renfrew Golf club. The morning foursomes
were edged 2-1 by the home side with only County Champion George Reynolds
and Greg Watson winning 2 & 1. The singles started brightly for the
area with Argyll & Bute seizing early leads in most of the ties. However
it was only Chris Carson from Innellan who provided a point , by
beating ex British Amateur champ Craig Watson. Argyll & Bute's only
other contribution came from Les Pirie who gained a half point against
David Miller. This made the final score 6.5 - 2.5 in Renfrewshire's favour.
